Mountain Living - February 2015
6 more weeks of winter?!
Depending upon which groundhog event you subscribe to, we may be in for six more weeks of winter. That may be a dreary thought to some, but for those of us who like to play in the dirt in spring and summer, it gives us a chance to look at seed catalogues and plan for the upcoming planting season. For those of us who are fortunate to live in Haywood County, it gives us an opportunity to place our orders for the 2015 Haywood County Master Gardener’s plant sale. This is an annual event for us Master Gardeners and a way in which funds are raised for educational programs to promote gardening in the county. The sale date is April 11, 2015, but pre-orders and payment must be received at the Haywood County Cooperative Extension Office by March 13, 2015. An order form is attached for your convenience and I would urge you to support this important Master Gardener program while obtaining some quality plants selected just for this area.
This month we welcome our newest permanent resident to Junaluska Highlands, Barbara Jo White. Barbara is a professor at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. Barbara and her pet rabbit moved into their new home earlier this month and we wish to extend to both a very warm welcome to our community.
I continue to receive calls from real estate professionals and individuals asking about Junaluska Highlands. When I inquire as to what attracts them to our development, I hear it is because we are centrally located, have wide paved streets with lighting, and that everyone maintains their property nicely. All of this is true and we are blessed to live in such a nice part of God’s creation.
That’s all for now.
Mac
