Mountain Living - June 2014
Summer has come to stay!
Spring is now just a fading memory as summer has come to stay in Junaluska Highlands. The abundance of the spring rains has brought about one of the lusher greening out of the local foliage in recent memory. Everyone’s garden is off to a great start and we are all just crossing our fingers that the blight will not return to damage the crops as it did last year.
Activity in the community continues at a rapid pace. One home that was under construction last year has now been completed and another is nearing completion. Ground has been broken on yet another home and I understand a lot has recently been purchased with the expectation of beginning construction soon. Just a reminder that all building plans for new construction as well as additions to existing homes must have the approval of our ARC (Architectural Review Committee) prior to beginning construction. Refer to the Building Info tab on the website for further information.
Next month we will celebrate Independence Day with our annual July 4th community wide social. Our social committee has been hard at work for some time planning this event, which will take place at the shelter next to the upper pond. In the event of inclement weather, we have secured an alternative venue. If you are a member of the Junaluska Highlands Community Association family and have not received an e-mail notice of this event, please contact our social committee chairperson, Kathy Bell, by clicking on the Contact Form tab on the website.
Our Board has set the date for our Annual Membership Meeting for Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Lake Junaluska Bethea Welcome Center. Mark your calendars for this important meeting and further information will be forthcoming.
That’s all for now, enjoy the summer in Junaluska Highlands.
Mac
